ZURI: All White Edition
A house music experience, all in white. Soulful, funky and tribal house with live drumming over the decks, on the south coast of Barbados. Doors 8pm, $25 BDS with a ticket.
The night
Everybody in white, and a drum under the house
ZURI is a house night with a live percussionist playing over the DJs, so the rhythm you feel isn't only coming out of the speakers. The music runs soulful, funky and tribal: the kind of house that keeps a floor moving rather than chasing the charts.
Everyone wears white. That's the whole look of the night, and it's the reason the photos from a ZURI floor look the way they do. The dress code is enforced at the door, so plan the outfit before you plan the taxi.
It happens at Surfers Bay Resort in Oistins, on the south coast, which puts it within easy reach of the Christ Church hotel strip. If you're on the island for the week and want one night that feels like Barbados rather than a hotel bar, this is that night.

Visiting Barbados
Making a night of it
If you're on the island that weekend, Oistins is worth building the evening around. The Oistins Fish Fry runs on a Friday and Saturday a few minutes away, so an early plate of grilled fish before the party is the local move.
Taxis in Barbados are not metered. Agree the fare before you get in, and book your ride back while you're still at the venue, because the night finishes at 11:30pm. If you're staying on the west coast, allow about half an hour each way.
