Before there were borders, there was rhythm.
Every culture has its own language; every people its own history. Yet long before we spoke the same words, we understood the same beat — the drum, the heartbeat, the ocean. Movement was our first conversation, the dancefloor our first place of belonging. ASET of KEMET exists to awaken that memory.
Born in Brooklyn, where hip hop, R&B and Caribbean music were everyday life. In Sweden she found another language: underground warehouses, forest festivals, Technics turntables and vinyl — long nights where strangers became family through sound. In Barbados those worlds converged. Fluent in English, Swedish and Mandarin Chinese, she moves between languages as easily as between genres.
Today her sets weave African percussion, Caribbean rhythm, Latin movement, Middle Eastern melody and South Asian texture into one borderless journey — not to blend cultures, but to remind us they have always been speaking to one another. She doesn't simply play global house; she builds spaces where people remember they belong to one another.
UMAMI うま味, launched in 2024, was born from a simple belief: underground culture should remain a place where new voices are heard. Every event is designed as a gathering rather than a spectacle — where sound systems, style and community matter equally, and where girls can see women behind the decks and imagine themselves there one day.
Aset is the ancient Kemetic name for the goddess many know as Isis — magic, protection, healing, rebirth — carried into contemporary culture through music, design and shared experience. The House is open. Come as you are. Leave remembering.
